Petone Youth and Families Trust in partnership with Ignite Sport presents:

Women’s Run Cycle or Walk Challenge

Petone, 7 March 2010

Circuit: 4km or 8km walk or run, or

            15km or 25km Hutt River Trail cycle

Start: Hikoikoi Reserve, Petone, 1pm

Cost: $15 per entrant (12 years & older)

Want to have a go at a sports event? This is a chance for women to ‘get started’ exercising by challenging themselves to a moderate-distance walk, run or cycle, while enjoying our local outdoor trails. So come on, get started!

Teenage Division (ages 12-16yrs). Same circuit, separate spot prizes!

Map and details

A seascape walk or run along Petone Foreshore and return, or recreational ride along Hutt River Trail to either Kennedy Good Bridge or Stokes Valley , and return. This is an untimed challenge with an emphasis on participation and fun rather than competition.

Online entries close Saturday 6 March 2010. Entries will be accepted on the day athe the venue (7 March) between 11.00am and 12.30pm, but a late entry fee of $20 will be charged.

Registration: Once entered, participants MUST register prior to the challenge at ONE the following times (registration consists of picking up your event bag and event number and signing the declaration if entered online):

Included in your entry:Ride number, event bag, course marshals and marked course, first aid, drink stations, sag wagon
Prizes:

Spot prizes awarded by random draw.
Prize giving when last entrant returns, entrants must be present with event number to claim prizes.
Prizes include a new bike donated by V.I.C. Cycles, gym memberships, an ipod nano for 12-16 year division, beauty and gift vouchers, bike and sports gear plus many other great prizes.

Bike check: V.I.C. Cycles (461 Hutt Road, Lower Hutt) is offering all cycle entrants a free bike and helmet check, before 6 March.
Training:

We suggest you start walking or running regularly four weeks before the challenge, building up to the same distance (then keep it up after the challenge!).
Cycling – it would be a good idea to have regularly cycled a similar distance prior to the event, especially on the Hutt River Trails (and keep it up afterwards!)

Start Me Up is a women’s/girls only challenge.

There is a limit to 300 entrants.

All walkways and cycle trails are open to other users, please be courteous.
