Board Member
Rachael's involvement with Ignite began when Ignite started as a camp for sports obsessed youth in 2001. Here is what Rachael has to say about her connection with Ignite Sport:
"Watching how Ignite has evolved and grown over the years has been a real testament to the amazing team. It is a pleasure to join the Ignite Board and to be able to contribute to this incredible organisation that is making a difference in the lives of rangatahi throughout the wider Wellington community. I believe the skills of leadership, teamwork and relationship building achieved through sport and activity are such an important part of growing strong and resilient members of our society.
I bring to the Ignite Sport Board my governance experience from two terms on our local Intermediate School board, as well as previous experience as a church deacon. I have also served as a committee member for an athletics club and for a junior rugby club. My day job involves working in Construction in the areas of Finance, Human Resources and Health & Safety. I am married to Rima and we have 3 teenage rangatahi. We are involved in coaching and managing sport in the Northern Suburbs of Wellington and really enjoy the relationships we have with not only the youth but all the families that we have been journeying with for many years."
